Position Information
UC Riverside Center for Plant Cell Biology is seeking a Bioinformatics Analyst to assist with next generation data analysis. UCR is the premier research University in Inland Southern California and we are seeking the best to join us. Within this exciting environment, rich with growth opportunities, you will perform duties to include custom data analysis, development of data analysis software, consultancy and training. 
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in computer sciences, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics or related field and several years of professional experience in analyzing scientific data; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of the data analysis concepts used in statistics, bioinformatics or molecular biology. 
- A minimum of three years of professional experience with scientific data analysis programming. 
- A minimum of two years of professional experience with programming in R, Python and/or C++. 
- A minimum of three years of experience of programming under Linux/Unix OSs. 
- Experience with the implementation of algorithms into software applications. 
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently. 
- Excellent communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
- Master's/PhD Degree in computer sciences, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics or a related field. 
- Experience in the analysis of biological sequence and profiling data sets. 
- Skill in preparing comprehensive data analysis reports. 
- Experience in the design of relational databases (e.g.: MySQL) and the development of web-interfaces. 
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, to share own ideas with others and to utilize team resources for optimizing success.
