SUPERFAMILY is the most used resource for the annotation of genomes with SCOP structural domains, having being cited nearly 1,500 times (over more than 10 years), and with the website being accessed on average once per second from about 15,000 distinct sites per month. More recently we have created the most comprehensive database for disorder annotation in genomes, D2P2; it is the perfect complement to SUPERFAMILY providing a consensus annotation of disordered regions in the genomes. Combining these two resources for structure and disorder in genomes will put the applicant in a unique position to carry out world-leading research. 

Your duties will be twofold: to bring forward the development f d2p2.pro and supfam.org and their integration, and that this be driven by conducting research into protein structure and disorder. The relative balance between these two main purposes is negotiable depending on the motivation and skills balance of the appointees. 

You will be motivated by at least one but not necessarily all of the following: the opportunity to conduct world-class research in protein disorder and structure; the chance to take responsibility, and be known for an important bioinformatics resource such as SUPERFAMILY and D2P2; the desire to develop novel bioinformatics tools and resources; the chance to define your own specific research projects that are aligned with the research group. 

In addition to being highly motivated you must hold a PhD (ideally in bioinformatics), have computational ability including programming and a have a publication list that demonstrates your ability to write papers. 

The posts are available for up to 17 months. It is expected that interviews will be held on 27th August 2013.
