Veracyte is seeking an exceptional individual with strong scientific leadership, coupled with insightful managerial and organizational skills to lead the Bioinformatics team, reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer.
This individual will be responsible for the design and implementation of an overall strategy for bioinformatics at Veracyte that will support the collaborative efforts of R&D to discover and develop validated genomic tests that enhance the company's reputation for scientific excellence. The successful candidate and his/her team will develop methodologies, implement bioinformatics pipelines and analyze data that contribute to all phases of product development, starting from early feasibility studies, biomarker identification, algorithm development, all the way through methods development studies, clinical feasibility studies, and ultimately large scale clinical validation studies.
Who You Are
This person should have extensive experience in developing bioinformatics tools to manage and analyze complex genomic data sets, and in collaborating with biologists, clinicians, and other statisticians in the analysis and interpretation of data. The successful candidate should be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the discovery and development of diagnostic tests that are clinically useful and make a difference to patient treatment decisions. He or she should have deep analytical experience with leading edge genomics technology platforms, e.g., next generation sequencing, and interested in leading technology-oriented scientists both to develop new bioinformatics methods and to develop production pipelines for clinical studies and support product development for the clinical laboratory that supports patient care. Your 10+ years of experience may come from academia or industry, though ideally you will have both. You must have demonstrated the ability to apply your experience to successful product development. Experience with the requirements and regulations for FDA and/or CLIA-based laboratory developed tests is strongly desired. You will have exceptional people management skills with at least 5-7 years of experience leading the work of computational scientists at the Masters and Ph.D. level and in translating computational concepts to lay colleagues. You will have exceptional organizational and management skills that allow you and your team to deliver high-quality results on tight timelines.
