Research Assistant/Bioinformatics Assistant @ Harvard School of Public Health





Duties & Responsibilities
The Huttenhower lab in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health is seeking a Research Assistant/Bioinformatics Analyst. The successful applicant will be responsible for methods development, software implementation, and methods application for the analysis of high-dimensional microbial community data. Specifically, the Analyst will serve as the primary developer for a novel statistical association technique designed to be highly scalable and generalizable to heterogeneous data. The Analyst will implement, extend, and validate the method, resulting in an open-source, freely available software package and a robust evaluation of the method's statistical characteristics through simulation studies.

This is a grant funded position scheduled to end on June 30, 2014.
Basic Qualifications
- College background in related field.
- Experience with Python and R required
Additional Qualifications
- BS, BA, or MS in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related field preferred.


- Familiarity with a Linux/Unix command line environment strongly preferred

- Biological or bioinformatic background is beneficial but not required.

- Candidate will collaborate closely with a team of computational biologists, statisticians, and biologists, and must have appropriate scientific communication skills.
