SUMMARY
The Informatics Team is the clinical development arm of Explorys.  We are responsible for providing meaning to the data in our system and developing methods to leverage that data in our applications.  Projects include standardizing and cleaning the data (Curation), building prediction models (Analytics), modeling financial outcomes (Utilization Analytics), and developing metrics to monitor patient treatment and outcomes (Quality Measurement).  We are a cross-functional collaborative team that works closely with product management, software development, and account management.  We develop creative solutions to challenging problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Identify clinical, financial, and operational data elements within different systems (EMRs, billing, etc.)
  • Standardize clinical data to common ontologies (such as SNOMED-CT, RxNorm, and LOINC)
  • Develop new ontologies to represent data elements in which no standard yet exists
  • Develop new methods of data extraction and data mining (such as utilizing NLP tools to obtain clinical information from unstructured text)
  • Work on a day-to-day basis with Explorys’ software engineering teams to ensure that our clinical, financial, and operational data are being accurately represented in our applications
  • Formulate validation strategies and methods to ensure accurate and reliable data
  • Support the rest of the Informatics Team in understanding and processing the data in our system
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • 1-3 years of experience in a clinical and technical environment or a degree Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, RN, or related field
  • 1-3 years of SQL experience
  • Knowledge of basic principles of clinical, financial, and operational data
  • Programming experience in at least one development environment (Java, Python, etc.) preferred
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred
  • Knowledge of classification systems and clinical vocabularies and nomenclature, such as ICD-9, CPT, HCPC, LOINC, SNOMED-CT, NDC, and RxNorm preferred
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
