Description
The Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Medicine invites a qualified PostDocResearch Associate with an extensive knowledge in following areas:
- Strong quantitative background and experience, e.g. statistical genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, human genetics, or related field
- Knowledge of genetics or biology
- Competent with at least one programming language, e.g. Perl, Python, and/or Java
- Competent with at least one statistical package, e.g. R, SAS, and/or MATLAB
- Must be comfortable working in Linux environment and with shell scripts
- Excellent writing skills and willingness & capability to learn new technologies
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and learn independently, and be self-motivated
Potential projects include but not limited to:
- · Quantitative ocular genomics
- · Genetic association studies in admixed populations
- · Analysis of rare variants and pathways
- · Next-generation sequencing studies for complex human traits
Requirements
The qualified candidate MUST hold a PhD degree in relevant field required. MDs with strong analytic skills are also encouraged to apply.
