Description

The Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Medicine invites a qualified PostDocResearch Associate with an extensive knowledge in following areas:
  1.  Strong quantitative background and experience, e.g. statistical genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, human genetics, or related field
  2.  Knowledge of genetics or biology
  3. Competent with at least one programming language, e.g. Perl, Python, and/or Java
  4. Competent with at least one statistical package, e.g. R, SAS, and/or MATLAB
  5. Must be comfortable working in Linux environment and with shell scripts
  6.  Excellent writing skills and willingness & capability to learn new technologies
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and learn independently, and be self-motivated

 Potential projects include but not limited to:
  1. ·         Quantitative ocular genomics
  2. ·         Genetic association studies in admixed populations
  3. ·         Analysis of rare variants and pathways
  4. ·         Next-generation sequencing studies for complex human traits

Requirements

The qualified candidate MUST hold a PhD degree in relevant field required.  MDs with strong analytic skills are also encouraged to apply.
