The Respiratory and Allergy group invite you to join our expanding team investigating the genomics of respiratory disease. You will be involved in developing/implementing techniques of bioinformatics and statistical analysis appropriate to a large complex dataset of genotypes, high throughput exome sequencing data and epigenetic data.
You will also play a key role in the internationally renowned Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study (MAAS) which is a longitudinal birth cohort study established to investigate risk factors for the development of asthma and allergies in childhood. You will possess knowledge of UNIX/LINUX, programming and basic scripting as well as statistical packages such as R, plink, Stata or SAS.
As a Research Associate you will have a PhD (or equivalent) or be near to completion in a relevant discipline (statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology), and have a degree with a significant statistical genetics component.
This is also an excellent opportunity for a Research Assistant who has, or is near to completing a Masters degree in a relevant discipline and has experience of working in an area relevant to this post. We also welcome applications from individuals with a strong computer science or statistical analysis background who would be interested in applying their skills to solving problems in biology.
Experience in the integration of phenotypic and genotypic data, writing and publishing papers of high scientific standard is desirable.  In addition, experience in analysing complex data and familiarity with longitudinal and hierarchical modelling is especially desirable
