Postdoctoral Associate

The Center for Human Genome Variation is seeking a motivated postdoctoral applicant interested in joining a group of investigators using cutting edge genomic technology to study genetics of neuropsychiatric traits. The CHGV is engaged in number of large scale studies in neuropsychiatric genetics, including epilepsy, compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, and normal behavior, with research methods ranging from genomics to functional biology. The successful candidate should have a strong interest in the genetics of neuropsychiatric traits and statistical analysis.

The position is expected to focus on computational genetic analyses of neuropsychiatric traits; the candidate will be responsible for a large next generation sequencing project of patients with OCD, which includes overseeing the sequencing of samples from patients who have OCD and utilizing the sequence data to identify genetic variants contributing to risk of OCD, and they will also assist the principal investigators in analyses of genetic traits from other projects, such as other neuropsychiatric disorders and normal human behavior.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in a related field such as Genetics, Genomics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or Neurobiology. Experience with neuropsychiatric traits, next generation sequencing, and genome-wide association studies is desired. Computational skills, experience in integration of novel methods of data analysis, and interpretation and communication of study results are a plus
