JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to provide informatics support across the organization. To perform correlation analysis of complex biological and chemical data with the goal of generating detailed understanding of principle component relationships in sensory, cell and High Throughput Screening data.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute informatic algorithms developed by the team and generate output such as scaffold maps and other tools to aid alignment and decision making
- Involvement in the computational analysis of biological data: annotate genomic sequence information and apply clustering algorithms to expression data, in order to compile phylogenetic relationships and track principle components
- Develop and execute scripts from relational SQL databases (Oracle, MSSQL)
- Be involved in optimizing workflows connecting disparate data sources together in a highly organized manner
- Be involved with model building and execution on various datasets
- Develop and document protocols and processes consistent with Chromocell standards
- Interact with colleagues across various divisions within Chromocell and Gustatec
- Provide support in statistics, and computational analysis of biological kinetic, and sensory data
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MS in, Biology, Biochemistry or Bioinformatics with strong on the job Computer Science knowledge, or MS in Math, Computer Science with excellent understanding of modern biology
- Requires a knowledge of Chemistry and extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP), with the use of Matlab, SimBiology, and SAS.
- Familiarity with Linux (Debian/SuSe/Red Hat) would be beneficial.
- Experience in programming techniques and design patterns for simplified code with programming languages: R, Ruby, Python, Java (please provide script samples).
- An understanding of Linear Optimization, Numerical Analysis, and Big-O Complexity would be an advantage.
