The Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences includes the disciplines of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, Pharmacology and Physiology. The development and expansion of thematic research programmes in both basic and applied research has taken AKU to the next level on the international scene while benefitting specific health care needs of Pakistan.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of ​Postdoctoral Fellow.
Responsibilities 
The incumbent will be responsible to:
assist in conducting, managing and planning research projects by determining theoretical aspects of problem and selecting method of approach conduct experiments, devise instrumentation and techniques to record and collect test results correlate data compiled in research and interpret the result develop new concepts, methods and techniques to solve scientific problems.analyze theories and research findings to determine applications carry out literature survey, data searching and retrieval, utilizing a variety of techniques and technologies contribute directly to the development of a research strategy for the ongoing research project compile information, data and practice exemplars for publication  prepare quantitative and qualitative analysis of data prepare write up of the results, manuscripts of paper, presentation and research proposals  enter experimental data in appropriate software and participate in data analysis  identify human volunteers and collect blood samples.

Requirements

Applicants must possess:
  1.     PhD in Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or Bioinformatics
  2.     high motivation with extensive experience in  Molecular biological techniques
  3.     ability to work and lead a team
  4.     ability to carry out an independent program of research
  5.     excellent scientific and grant writing ability
  6.     excellent communication skills in English
  7.     ability and willingness to mentor and/or supervise doctoral students
  8.     project management skills
  9.     experience in representing the institution in national and international conferences.
