A bioinformatics postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the School of Biomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. The postdoctoral fellow will work with a group of bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, computer scientists and biologists to employ text mining, ontology and genome information to infer novel gene networks and to apply computational skills to analyze large data sets involved in human disease.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills (preferably OO language such as C++, C# or Java), web portal design, and relational database (SQL, database design, interface to web). Knowledge in ontology development and semantic web is desirable. Candidate should have strong background in the field of computer science, statistics or mathematics.
Position 2
Position Description:
A bioinformatics postdoc position is immediately available in theSchoolofBiomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Science Center inHouston. The postdoc will receive training in modeling and visualizing human genome in 3-dimension, and in large scale genome information integration and analysis.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have exposure and past experience in structure biology, with solid C++/C# programming skills, object-oriented technology and the understanding of design patterns. The candidate also needs to have extensive experience with OpenGL-3D programming. Familiar with Quaternions, VRML, game engine or Java is a big plus, but not necessary. Candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, Applied Math or Physics.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate should have strong training in statistics and/or machine learning, familiar with one or more programming language, familiar with statistical analysis environment such as R, have hands on experience in large data set analysis such as microarray or next generation sequencing data analysis. Candidate should be formally trained in statistics, mathematics or computer science (machine learning).
