COURSE CHARACTERISTICS
This course is targeted to post graduate students who wish to gain insight on the different integrative and translational research approaches in the field of Bioinformatics.
Objectives:
- To gain knowledge about the current challenges and opportunities in the emerging field of translational bioinformatics.
- To meet experts in the field of integrative and translational bioinformatics.
- (DAY1) Clinical application of genomic information
- (DAY2) Electronic Health Records in integrative research
- (DAY3) Automatic extraction and integration of information from scientific publications and other sources
- (DAY4) Ontologies and standards for biomedical data integration
- (DAY5) Systems biology and network analysis for translational medicine
PRELIMINARY AGENDA
Total of 30 hours over 5 working days. Morning sessions from 9am – 1pm, and afternoon sessions from 3pm – 5pm.
Graduate students with background on: Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Mathematics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering or related areas.

REGISTRATION AND GRANTS
The Registration fee is 300€. It includes the lectures, coffee breaks and lunches during the course.
Two types of Grants are available, candidates can apply to one or both grants:
1) European Mobility Grant
The European Mobility Grants can be given to applicants who reside in Europe and whose travel to the training require air/train travel and/or who need accommodation in Barcelona during the course week.
INBIOMEDvision will cover the costs of inter-European travel and lodging in Barcelona up to total of 500€ per applicant. Expenses will be covered only for travel and accommodation during the course period from the 22nd until the 26th of April. The original tickets/invoices are required for the reimbursement of the expenses.
The in-city travel in Barcelona is not covered by the Mobility Grant.
2) Registration fee Grant
The Registration fee Grant covers the registration only. Travel and accommodation costs are not covered by the organiser.
