Research Associate – Bioinformatics
The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,375 – £39,132 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
We are seeking an interactive and self-motivated bioinformatician or programmer to work on cancer evolutionary biology. The post is based within the Translational Cancer Therapeutics laboratory at the UCL Cancer Institute, University College London, UK.
The Bioinformatics post will be an integral part of the research that the Swanton TCT group are conducting within the Cancer Institute, The post holder will be required to carry out research in the area of breast and lung cancer, including the analysis of exome sequencing data from patient samples and the results of shRNA drug screens. Their work will also involve designing and running experiments, recording, analysing and writing up the results.
The post is initially funded until the 30th September 2013.
The successful candidate must have or be in the process of obtaining a PhD, or possess the equivalent experience and must have a Masters Degree. The successful candidate must be proficient in one or more of the following programming languages; C++, Perl, Python, Java or R and have sufficient expertise in statistical analyses. Familiarity with the Unix/Linux operating systems and interest in and/or knowledge of biology is a highly desired. Candidates must have experience with high-throughput sequencing data.
