The postdoctoral fellow research project “Regulation of shiga toxins and other virulence genes in HUS-associated and non-HUS associated shiga toxin producing Escherichia coli (STEC)”will focus on studies of the role of gene regulation for Shiga toxin (Stx)-expression in a variety of STEC strains, both International strains with available genome data and sequenced STEC strains from Norway. Data from bioinformatics analyses will be compared with results from in vitrogene regulation of Stx expression in laboratory assays and with clinical information on disease severity. Depending on personal qualifications the postdoctoral fellow may focus on either solely the bioinformatics part of the project, or alternatively may combine the bioinformatics analyses and laboratory experiments. We seek a talented, enthusiastic and creative candidate with a strong academic record and a commitment to bioinformatics and microbiological research. The period of employment for the postdoctoral fellow position is two years. A PhD in a relevant area such as bioinformatics, biology or microbiology.
Documented theoretical and practical experience with relevant methods in bioinformatics.

Depending on qualifications and academic background, Postdoctoral fellows (code 1352) at the Faculty of Medicine will be remunerated at wage levels 57-76 on the Norwegian State salary scale, with a gross salary from NOK 473 100 - NOK 679 400 a year, from which 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. Normal wage level is 57-60. A yearly amount for operating costs will be added.
