Announcement of Open Positions

The German-Canadian international research training group
  • "Computational Methods for the Analysis of the Diversity and Dynamics of Genomes"
starting October 2013 at Bielefeld University, Germany, offers
  • 6 PhD positions
    • (3-years positions; payed according to German TV-L 13 table, i.e., a monthly gross salary of approximately 3200 Euros),
  • 1 qualification fellowship
    • (1-year scholarship for BSc graduates who can, after one year of preparatory studies and research, directly continue in the PhD program; monthly tax-free allowance of 800 Euros).
Candidates should hold an excellent Master or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Computer science, or related areas. They have to demonstrate broad background in the interdisciplinary field of bioinformatics in general and deep knowledge in the area they apply for (see project descriptions for detailed requirements). As students must be able to communicate their work in the research training group, and have to quickly integrate into both the Bielefeld and Vancouver environment, good communication skills are demanded. Knowledge of the English language is required, whereas German is not necessary.
The application procedure starts beginning of May. (Then project descriptions and the application form will be available.)
The application deadline is on Friday, June 7, 2013 (any time zone). Two to three weeks later, the most promising candidates will be invited to an application workshop, taking place at Bielefeld University on July 18 or 24/25 (right before or after the ISMB in Berlin). See also Events.
