The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of Rosario University (Bogotá, Colombia) is seeking a full time faculty member in population and evolutionary genetics.
The successful applicant will be joining the group “Evolutionary Genetics, Phylogeography and Ecology of Neotropical Biodiversity”. The applicant must posses a Ph.D., postdoctoral and teaching experience both at the undergraduate and graduate level, and a good record of scientific productivity in international well-reputed journals. Applicants with expertise in the use of genomics tools to address evolutionary questions (population genomics) in tropical insects are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independently funded research program within the interests of the above mentioned research group. In addition, the candidate will teach undergraduate courses in genetics, evolutionary genetics and/or bioinformatics, along with graduate courses in his or her area of expertise. He/she will also advise undergraduate, masters and doctoral students in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

(5)Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Fellow: Human Epigenomic Variation in Development and Disease

Position Code: SC10156The Prabhakar group has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of statistical epigenomics and human population variation. The group has initiated multiple large-scale projects that use Next-Gen sequencing to understand the role of transcriptional regulation and epigenomics in mediating the effects of genetic variants on human development and disease. Specific areas of interest include stem cell development and neuronal disorders such as autism and major depression.The Fellow will be expected to lead the development of statistical techniques and algorithms for analyzing next-gen sequence data and polymorphism data in control and affected cohorts. The Genome Research Computing section of the Research Computing Centre was awarded two NeCTAR grants to develop a Genomics Virtual Laboratory (GVL) in collaboration with partners around Australia. The GVL will be developed and operated by the Genome Informatics Network (GIN) - the organisational umbrella within the newly formed Australian Bioinformatics Network endorsed by CSIRO, BPA and EMBL Australia. Members include the Universities of Queensland, Melbourne, Sydney, Western Australia and Monash University; CSIRO, and other universities and research institutes, representing thousands of researchers.
The position provides project management for the Genomics Virtual Laboratory. The position will lead a team of staff across the GVL to deliver the project outcomes including the contract management, reporting, schedule, and communications.

The person

The applicant should have well developed interpersonal skills (including written and verbal communication) and the ability to liaise with staff and external agencies at all levels. He/she will also need experience in the management of large projects with multiple stakeholders. The applicant should also be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain a current working knowledge of relevant emerging technologies, methodologies and best practices.

Remuneration

This is a part-time, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 8. The remuneration package will be in the range $82,451.51 - $92,581.91 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9% (total package will be in the range $89,872.15 - $100,914.28 p.a.).

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research on the genomics of human melanoma (including gene, protein, microRNA and methylome analysis), as part of a multidisciplinary translational research team. The ultimate objective of the research will be to develop clinically and biologically relevant models from these data, and to apply them in the form of improved biologic markers of clinical outcome, including disease progression and prognosis, to deepen understanding of the drivers of melanoma behaviour, and to identify promising targets for therapeutic intervention. 
The position is established within a NHMRC and Cancer Institute NSW funded research program that links basic, translational and clinical researchers working on melanoma. The program’s chief investigators are in the University of Sydney, Sydney Medical School (Central Clinical School, Westmead Clinical School, Northern Clinical School at the Westmead Millennium Institute, Kolling Institute and Melanoma Institute Australia) and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. Key collaborators in bioinformatics, biostatistics and systems biology are in the School of Mathematics, University of Sydney, and the Systems Biology Initiative of the University of NSW. 
In this role you will:
  • design experiments in the light of the scientific literature and project strategy, analyse data, and monitor research progress and outcomes under broad direction
  • draft and otherwise contribute to research publications and presentations
  • communicate and discuss research findings to other team members
  • manage data with respect to processing, storage, dispatch, tracking and quality control
  • coordinate administrative and lab management activities.

To succeed in securing this role you will have:
  • a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in cancer molecular cell biology, and relevant experience in genomics
  • a track record of research in biology or genomics of melanoma (desirable)
  • knowledge of human genome sequencing and previous experience in whole genome, exome capture, targeted sequencing and RNA sequencing data analysis
  • previous experience in miRNA isolation, RT-PCR, and miRNA array work
  • high level written communication skills including experience in writing scientific papers and abstracts and high level analytical skills
  • experience in working within a multi-disciplinary research team
  • high motivation and a demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong outcomes focus.
